A new youth theatre group is set to launch in Richmond later this year, offering young performers the chance to take part in musical theatre productions while building confidence and performance skills.
ROS Juniors, the newly-created youth section of Richmond Operatic Society, will make its debut during the October half-term holidays with a production of Matilda Jr at Influence Church.
Six performances are planned across the week as the group prepares to introduce a new generation of young people to live theatre.
Richmond Operatic Society, which was founded in 1923, has a long history of performances in the town and organisers say it is fitting that the youth group’s first production will take place at Influence Church, where the society has previously staged productions.
Audition details are expected to be announced in the coming months and families interested in taking part are being encouraged to register their interest now.
Anyone wishing to receive audition information and updates can email rospublicity@gmail.com to join the mailing list.
Organisers say ROS Juniors aims to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where young people can develop confidence, creativity and friendships through performing arts opportunities.
The launch marks a brand-new opportunity for aspiring young performers across the Richmondshire area to become involved in musical theatre locally.
