Richmond Operatic Society performs Scrooge!

Richmondshire residents are invited to kick start their festive celebrations by watching as Richmond Operatic Society’s Scrooge.

This festive musical, based on Dickens’ much-loved A Christmas Carol, started life as the memorable 1970 film starring Albert Finney before transferring to the stage.

Christmas Eve, 1843: the cruel money-lender Ebenezer Scrooge is confronted by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, who warns Scrooge that he faces damnation unless he mends his ways.

Can Scrooge be redeemed? All will be decided by the three spirits who visit him in the course of the night.

With a score by Lesley Bricusse, whose credits include Pickwick, Dr Dolittle and Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, the show features the classics Thank You Very Much, I Hate People and the classic Sing A Christmas Carol.

Society chairman John Holliday said: “I never cease to be amazed at the endless hours of commitment our members put into producing a show, whether on stage or behind the scenes.

“Scrooge! is a fantastic story with stunning music and it is a privilege to not only chair this amazing group but be part of the cast too. You won’t be disappointed.”

ROS perform Scrooge at The Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond from Wednesday November 15 to Saturday November.
