A Richmond restaurant has taken on three young people thanks to help from a district council grant scheme.
La Rustique in Finkle Street received almost £1,500 to part fund three apprentices for their uniforms, equipment and training.
Sarah Bradley is training to be a hospitality supervisor, and Connor McClean and Jake Bennett commis chefs.
This story continues after the adverts:
The grant will pay for 10 per cent of the course costs for Sarah and equipment/uniforms for both Connor and Jake – chef whites, knives, safety shoes and frying pans will enable them to complete their course.
“I am delighted that Richmondshire District Council had this funding to support our employees through their training,” said Thomas Park, director of La Rustique.
“It’s a great opportunity to help further their careers in the catering trade and I will be encouraging each of them to take full advantage of what their courses have to offer.”
The district council apprenticeship scheme still has some funding to allocate – with the next deadline November 1.
Businesses can apply for up to £2,000 per apprenticeship.
