Richmond School footballers selected for county teams

Nine young footballers from Richmond School and Sixth Form College have secured places in  county sides..

Adam Walker, 17, Sean Thompson, 17, Josh Devlin, 17, Nathan Simpson, 16, Ryan Hart, 16, Thomas Gilroy, 17, Joey Hope, 15, Dan Luck, 15, and Sanny Lingthep, 15, have made it into either the sides after successfully navigating tough trials.

Six will play in the U18 squad and three in the U16s tackling sides from all over the region, including Durham, Northumberland, South Yorkshire, Cleveland and Cumbria.

Sean said: “We have played together for many years now and training has started well. We are really looking forward to the season ahead.

“There are some strong sides in the region which helps us raise our game.”

Coach Jonathan Kellett said: “To have this many boys again in the county squads is really rewarding.

“All the players show exceptional levels of skill, dedication and passion for the game which makes them a delight to coach.”
