Students from Richmond School and Sixth Form College visited Parliament for a roundtable discussion with local MP Rishi Sunak.
Business and Economics students toured the Palace of Westminster before taking part in an extended question-and-answer session with the former Prime Minister and Chancellor.
During the discussion, pupils raised a range of topics including the economy, climate change, leadership and the changing political landscape in Britain.
Students also asked Mr Sunak about his experiences serving in two of the country’s highest political offices, with conversations focusing on government decision-making and the pressures of leading during major national and international events.
The visit was designed to give students a greater understanding of Parliament and how political decision-making works in practice, helping support their Business and Economics studies.
Mr Sunak praised the students for their engagement during the visit.
He said: “It was a pleasure to welcome pupils from Richmond School and Sixth Form College to Parliament. They asked thoughtful and well-informed questions on a wide range of topics and were a credit to their school.
“It’s always encouraging to see young people taking such a strong interest in politics, economics and public service.”
