Richmond shop announces closure

A Richmond shop has announced its closure.

Shake It Up has been serving sweet treats from premises in the Market Place for the last four years.

The shop said in a statement that tomorrow will be its last day of opening.

The statement said: “We are sad to say after a lovely 4 summers in Richmond the time has come where like other local businesses we have to close our doors for the last time tomorrow.

“Our lease is up and with the way the prices are increasing we cannot justify charging hard working families and small children any more that we currently are for milkshakes, and to stay profitable with current increases it would just make products too expensive.”

The shop said it might have more positive news in the spring.

The announcement follows a spate of business closures for the Richmond area with The Fleece, Ravensworth Nurseries, The Swan at Gilling West, York House gift shop and Cross View Team Room all announcing they have already shut or will do this year.

  1. If I was allowed to really write just what I think of this government it wouldn’t get put in the comments, but roll on the next general election and get this tin pot government closed down!

  2. You can’t make a living when you only open two days a week, and closed for long periods….
Don’t blame the government when you have a poor business plan.
Plus a new ice cream parlour opened on castle hill taking the business when you were shut.
