A Richmond singer has made the six chair challenge at this year’s X Factor.

Anthony Monarch made it through to the last sixteen of the over 25s category after successfully coming through the audition process.

His audition has not been screened on the ITV show, but the 34-year-old is expecting to appear on a future episode as the judges decide on their favorite six acts in each category that will compete in the live shows.

This story continues after the adverts:

Anthony is not allowed to reveal the outcome but describes the six chair challenge process as “brutal”.

Anthony sang When A  Man Loves A Woman for the four judges at Wembley Arena and got a standing ovation, as well as four ‘yeses’.

He added: “It was an amazing experience to sing in front of six and a half thousand people.

“I’m gutted they haven’t shown my audition because I smashed it.

“It was probably the best thing I’ve done in my life.

“But the six chair challenge was brutal. It was great fun but a very long day and there was a lot of drama, people kicking off and the audience booing.”

Anthony expects to appear on the show either this weekend or next.
