Richmond Swimming Pool is to remain closed until September due faults with the heating system and further maintenance work.
The pool underwent major work last year with a new roof and heating system installed.
The facility reopened in January but has had to shut several times since then due to faults with the new heating system, with the latest being on June 29.
The pool was due to close for seven weeks this summer to carryout further improvements and it has been decided to keep the facility shut until this has been completed.
Austin Gordon, general manager of Richmondshire Leisure Trust, which runs the pool, said in a statement: “Richmondshire Leisure Trust sincerely regrets the current closure and disruption to customers.
“Richmond Swimming Pool will therefore be closed until Saturday, September 9 2023.
“Liberty Health Club and the mini golf course will remain open throughout the summer.
“The pool owners, North Yorkshire Council, are due to commence a seven-week capital works programme from July 24, however due to issues with the swimming pool boilers the pool has been closed since June 29 with repairs expected to take a further three weeks to complete. This date coincides with the planned closure.
“The charity that operates the swimming pool, Richmondshire Leisure Trust, would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and we look forward to greeting you back when the pool reopens in September.”

Wouldn’t it be nice if they could just put the good old reliable gas boilers back in which weren’t very old when they were thrown out to fit these new state-of-the-art boilers which have cost us all thousands of pounds and don’t seem to have worked for the day they were installed.
Disappointing, particularly as we travelled 28 14 mile round trip this week to find pool closed. Staff said closure on website, but I don’t check website each time before setting off. Good to see notification now on In Your Area via Richmondshire Today. Will have to find substitute until September as swimming helps us with recovery post orthopaedic surgery.
