A Richmond men’s football team has thanked two local companies for their support.

Unicorn, which are currently top of the Wensleydale Creamery League, have received a new kit thanks to Catterick Garrison-based NE Maintenance Services Ltd (NEMS).

The team, which plays at the recreation ground at Brompton-on-Swale, has also received a line-marker from Robertson’s Garden Services.

Simon Greenslade, NEMS director, whose son Luke plays for Unicorn, said: “NEMS are delighted to offer this support to a great local team and we hope the purple kit will enable them to go through a purple patch in their achievements.”

Barry Robertson, owner of Robertson’s, said: “We have invested in our pitch marking equipment to improve our service to the likes of Wensleydale School and the nearly new line marker became surplus to our needs.

“Rather than selling it, we thought it would be great to donate to a local team.

Unicorn manager James Anderson said: “I and all the players and volunteers at the club are extremely grateful for NEMS support and sponsorship this season, especially when taking into account the unprecedented times we are living through.

“We hope we can be back out playing in it again soon.

“We are also very thankful to Robertson’s – we have a really old machine that takes an age to use. This new machine will give us more time to practice scoring some worldies!”
