Richmond Town Council is inviting residents and visitors to sample flavours from around the world as the town hosts its first-ever food festival this weekend.
The inaugural Richmond Food Festival will take over the Market Place on Sunday, August 2, with more than 30 food and drink stalls, family entertainment and live performances planned throughout the day.
Running from 10am until 4pm, the free event will showcase a wide range of local, national and international food, including Afro-Caribbean dishes, rotisserie chicken, Chinese street food, artisan breads, homemade cakes and desserts, as well as locally produced specialities.
Visitors will also be able to browse stalls selling craft beer, premium gin, local honey, barista-made coffee and other artisan produce, providing an opportunity to support independent businesses from across the region.
There will be plenty to entertain younger visitors too, with traditional rides from Murphy’s Fair, including the popular Hook-a-Duck attraction.
The festival atmosphere will be enhanced by performances from Morris dancers and appearances by Richmond’s Town Crier throughout the day.
Organisers say the new event has been created to celebrate the area’s thriving food and drink sector while bringing the community together in the heart of the historic market town.
Whether visitors are passionate food lovers, looking for a family day out or simply want to enjoy the atmosphere, the festival promises something for all ages.
Entry is free and no booking is required.
