The future of Richmond Town women’s team looks bright with a new kit and a first win of the season.

The team recorded its first win of the season on Sunday — a 4-0 victory over Huntington Rovers.

It also has a new kit thanks to Darlington-based A-Star Scaffolding.

The team formed with just eight to ten players initially playing just for fun at Richmond School, but the group has grown rapidly with 26 players now registered.

Players come from across Richmondshire and Darlington.

They are coached by Pete Wheeler.

He said: “It’s great to get women’s football on the map in our area.

“Our aims at Richmond Town FC are to keep growing the ladies team with the aim of starting a development team.

“We play in the North Riding Football League and are aiming to finish in the top half of the table this season.”
