Richmond Triathlon Club members Jake Stephenson and Will Smith are mixing it with the best young triathletes in the country.
The pair, both 15 and from Richmond, went to Loughborough last weekend to take part in a performance assessment of elite youth athletes, which took place over two days.
It started with a 400m time trial swim in the pool.
This story continues after the adverts:
On day two, there was a bike run session in pursuit format.
They started the session with their swim time difference behind the fastest swimmer denoting their start time.
Jake finished overall in an excellent 30th place and Will, who races for Triology/Bike Science North East, came from 63rd to finish a credible 36th with only 29 seconds separating the pair.
This was against the very best triathletes in their age group in the country.
The Richmond School pupils who train with the North East Academy will now go on to race in the National Elite Super Series races across the UK.
