Richmond’s new Twilight Markets have been given a funding boost to help attract more traders and encourage more people into the town centre.
The monthly evening markets have secured support from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund as part of a project called Making Richmond Shine, which aims to increase footfall and bring new life to the town.
As a result of the funding, traders will be able to book a market pitch for just £5 at each of the next three Twilight Markets, significantly reducing the usual cost of taking part.
The markets will be held in Richmond Market Place from 5pm to 9pm on July 25, August 29 and September 26.
The grant will also pay for promotional materials, including banners and posters, to help raise awareness of the events and attract visitors.
Organisers hope the markets will encourage both residents and tourists to experience Richmond in a different way by browsing a range of stalls, enjoying food and drink and listening to live music in the town’s historic Market Place.
The Twilight Markets are among a number of new events being introduced to help support Richmond’s town centre and create a more vibrant evening economy.
