A Richmondshire construction firm has received recognition for its work to train and inspire young people.

Having been shortlisted for three awards by the National Federation of Builders, Randall Orchard Construction received the Highly Commended Award for Training Programme of the Year 2018 at an award ceremony held at The Belfry on Tuesday evening.

The judges said Randall Orchard demonstrated an “admirable commitment to training, especially with the work that they do with local schools, understanding the importance of engaging with the younger generation in order to address the skills shortage faced by the industry”.

Richard Beresford, chief executive of the National Federation of Builders, said the NFB awards showcased all that was special about the industry.

He added: “Each project has a real story and vision behind it.

“The entries we received this year demonstrate the breadth of skills and talent that our members have.

“Judging was no easy feat – the NFB is proud to represent it’s members and the NFB awards give us all the opportunity to celebrate achievements as well as the progression of the industry.”
