Another eight small businesses have received a cash boost thanks to a grants scheme operated by Richmondshire District Council.
They shared £7,220 awarded through the authority’s Small Business Grant Scheme.
And there is still money in the pot – £25,000 is up for grabs for eligible businesses, with the next awards expected after February 1.

The latest awards went to:
- A barbers in Richmond – to support the cost of an apprentice.
- A gymnasium in Leyburn – towards new fitness training apparatus.
- A Richmond based graphic designer to support the cost of a new website
- A Richmond based publishing consultant to buy new IT equipment.
- A new venue in Reeth in January to help buy tables, chairs and a projector for presentations.
- A dance school in Richmond towards a ballet barre, storage and teaching books and CDs.
- A woodworkers in Catterick towards the cost of a portable market stall and website
- An agricultural engineer from Newton Le Willows towards new computer system
“This scheme provides small grants to businesses that need a helping hand,” said Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Threlfall.
“These latest awards show how diverse those businesses – and the help – can be. We have a new barbers shop getting aid to employ an apprentice, a woodworker looking to get out into the community with a market stall and a ballet school improving facilities for pupils.”
To qualify for the scheme businesses should be based within the district, have no more than four full time equivalent employees and be up to date with their district council accounts.
Businesses who have been successful through the scheme previously, can re-apply after a period of three years. The scheme will close when the total funds are allocated.
The next deadline for bids is 12noon on 1st February, 2018.
