Richmondshire community groups urged to apply for grants

Community groups are being urged to apply to a council funding scheme that has already allocated over £1m to local projects.

The next round of applications for the Community Investment Fund (CIF) closes at the end of this month – on November 30.

Last month, members of Richmondshire District Council’s corporate board allocated another £300,000 to the scheme – to be spent before it closes in March 2023.

So far this year 20 schemes have received money – amounting to £270,579 of grant against total project costs of £666,946.

They include projects on village hall refurbishments, play parks, community gardens and woodlands, footpaths, and sports schemes and facility updates.

“Over the course of the year we have supported a diverse range of community projects that are focussed on providing enhanced benefits to our communities; increasing participation in sporting activities, enhancing wellbeing and engaging with all spectrum of ages,” said corporate director, Callum McKeon.

“We look forward to helping many more projects.”

CIF allocates cash to community and social projects across Richmondshire to support new projects and improvement schemes for facilities for local people.
