Richmondshire council tenants invited to enter garden contest

The 2017 winners.

Richmondshire gardeners are getting ready for the annual summer competition to find the best blooms in the district.

Judges will mystery shop gardens in all Richmondshire District Council owned homes as they look for the best window boxes, tubs, baskets, borders and vegetable patches. And there will be prizes for the best overall gardens too.

During June, July and August they will look at the blooms in the council’s five area partnership areas – the Upper Dales, Catterick Garrison, Lower Wensleydale, A66 and Central Richmond.

It doesn’t matter how large or small the garden is – or if it is just a window box or a tub garden – judging will reflect how the entrant has made best use of the area they have available.

Prizes – garden centre vouchers of £50, £30 and £20 – will be awarded in September.
