Richmondshire Cricket FC make debut in Sunday league

The new Richmondshire Cricket FC team.

Richmond has a new Sunday morning football team to support after Richmondshire Cricket FC made their competitive debut at the weekend.

The side has been formed by a group of friends from the cricket club – club captain Brad Galloway, manager Jordan Forbes, Josh Dowson, Lewis Cocks, Harvey Websdale and John Clark – who wanted to bring fresh competition to the local league.

Home games will be played at Richmond School, with the team competing in the Hillsprint Hambleton Sunday Division 1.

Their first competitive fixture took place last Sunday when they beat Bedale Town 2-1 with goals from Joseph Hope and Ollie Rogerson.

Club captain Brad said: “We’re just a group of mates who wanted to start something new for the town.

“The league was in need of some new competition so we decided to jump in at the deep end.

“With plenty of local talent in the squad and the backing of the Richmond community, we are hoping to make our mark in our debut season.”
