A Richmondshire dance school has received a small business grant to buy new equipment following its expansion.

The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy received the money from a scheme run by Richmondshire District Council.

Louise Richmond, from the school, said: “This grant has enabled us to purchase more acrobatics mats as well as a further ballet barre for our pupils.

“In doing this the Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy is able to continually provide high quality affordable dance lessons for both children and adults in Richmond, Catterick Garrison, Middleton Tyas and Ravensworth.”

The grant follows the academy’s recent successful expansion and the introduction of more classes.

The dance school offers lessons in ballet, tap and modern, street, acrobatics and freestyle, adult tap and adult ballet.

The dance school has also introduced three pre-school dance classes to its timetable which are led by a qualified early years teacher.

Louise added: “This July the pupils from the Dance school will be performing in our dance school show A Night At the Movies, this will be taking place at the Georgian Theatre Royal Richmond and will be raising money for the charity Cancer Research.”
