Richmondshire dance students take part in professional workshop

A dance school has hosted it first annual professional workshop last weekend which was enjoyed by dance students from across the district.

Students from the Charlotte Jacqueline School of Dance were joined by dancers from the Janet Seymour School of Dance and Step by Step Dance School to make for a great class atmosphere.

Harrison Vaughan, winner of CBBC’s Taking the Next Step and professional West End performer, led the workshop and provided a memorable experience for the young dancers.

Students were taught technique and a routine in both musical theatre and contemporary dance with performance opportunities at the end.

The dancers were also given chance to ask questions about the industry and learn more about audition techniques and the day-to-day life of a performer.

Charlotte Porter, Charlotte Jacqueline School of Dance principal, said: “It was great to have a leading professional here in Richmond and at our school.

“All the dancers worked incredibly hard to prove that we have some fantastic talent here in Richmondshire.

“A great afternoon was had by all and we cant to host another equally inspiring opportunity in 2019.”
