Richmondshire’s election team are putting the final plans in place for this week’s local elections when just under 37,000 voters will go to the polls.

The district council team will be administering 57 polling stations, manned by 124 staff for the May 2 election.

Elections are taking place for all district wards and for parishes in Bellerby, Leyburn, Thoralby, Richmond East and Richmond West.

Tony Clark, electoral registration officer for Richmondshire District Council, is also urging voters to be ready too.

“Putting a cross in a box might seem simple, but there are plenty of things voters need to consider in order to be ready for this week’s local election,” he said.

“Your poll card will tell you the location of your polling station – and you will find more information on how to take part at Voters can also get in touch with the team here at Richmondshire District Council with any further queries.

“If you are registered, you do not need your poll card to vote, however, we would encourage you to take it with you to make the process quicker and more efficient.”

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Voters who have opted to vote by post must return their postal ballot pack by 10pm and can hand it in at their polling station if they don’t have time to return it by post.
