Harewood Medical Practice is no-longer managed by Leyburn Medical Practice.
The Catterick Garrison health centre is now run by community interest company Heartbeat with the contract to operate the practice transferred from the partners of the Leyburn medical centre.
NHS bosses say the transfer is in the long-term interests of both practices and will mean they can better meet the different needs of their respective patients.
Stephen Brown, CEO Heartbeat, said: “This is a really positive move for Harewood Medical Practice.
“In what has been an extremely challenging couple of years for GP practices, staff have worked tirelessly to position Harewood Medical Practice as a responsive, adaptable and accessible practice at the heart of the community in Catterick Garrison.
“The transfer to Heartbeat provides better support that will allow us to build on the improvements made and take us forward to our future role within the Garrison and the planned integrated care facility.”
Officials say Harewood Medical Practice has undergone significant change under the management of Leyburn Medical Practice.
Practice bosses say patients now have better access to self-care information, wider use of social media channels and easier access to see the right person for their needs, first time.
Current GP Partners, Dr Stephen Wild and Dr Debbie Ashcroft will transfer with the contract alongside all staff currently working at Harewood Medical Practice and will be employed directly through Heartbeat.
Managing Partner, Stephen Brown, has resigned from the Leyburn Medical Practice Partnership and will be working for Heartbeat on a full-time basis as their recently appointed CEO from his previous position and Finance and Strategy Director.
Stephen will continue to provide financial management support to Leyburn Medical Practice to provide continuity.
Dr Julia Brown, Dr Bridget Laybourne and newly appointed GP Partners, Dr Lucy Fox and Dr Karthikeyan Shanmugam will remain as Partners at Leyburn Medical Practice.
They have also recently appointed two GPs, Dr Monica Jamieson and Dr Sinead Bell.

How are existing GP practices ie Leyburn and Aysgarth coping with all the extra housing being built in rural areas. Have they had an increase in funding for more Doctors? From my experience it is even harder getting a face to face appointment as they are so busy.I was quoted a 4 weeks wait!
One can only hope and pray that things will improve at Harewood practice now!
Unless you are Nepalese it appears you are not important and don’t have a reasonable expectation to hear results of any tests etc. In recent conversations with a cross section of the community, there is serious dissatisfaction with Harewood, and clients looking to change to other practice’s.
Not good!
