A Richmondshire boutique hotel and restaurant has been named as one of the best in the UK.
The Wensleydale Heifer, in West Witton, has been placed in the top ten in TripAdvisor’s prestigious Traveller’s Choice Best of the Best Awards 2020 in the Best Fine Dining Restaurant category.
Every year, TripAdvisor pulls together all the reviews and ratings posted on its site and uses that information to spotlight the very best in The Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best awards.
The award is TripAdvisor’s highest recognition and is presented annually.
The Wensleydale Heifer came sixth in a very list that made up the top ten fine dining restaurants, including Michelin-starred establishments such as The Fat Duck, The Waterside Inn (both of which have three stars), fellow Yorkshire restaurant The Black Swan at Oldstead and L’Enclume in Cumbria as well as Restaurant Sat Bains.
It’s proved to be a week of double celebration for the family-owned and run business, as it has also been named as a finalist in the Best Small Hotel category for the second year in a row in the White Rose Awards. The team scooped silver in the same category last year.
The hotel is owned and run by father and son team Lewis and David Moss.
David Moss said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be named in such a prestigious list, taking our place alongside internationally-renowned restaurants across the UK.
“Our focus always is on using the very best, freshest and most local produce possible to create our menus and we’re delighted that our efforts have been recognised by the people that matter the most – our guests.
“It’s their wonderful reviews and ratings that have helped us achieve this fantastic accolade, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Since we have reopened we have been incredibly humbled by the support we’ve had from our guests – it’s been so very much appreciated.”
