Music lovers are being invited to welcome the new season with Richmondshire Orchestra’s spring concert, titled Go Forth…, taking place on Sunday, March 22 at the Garden Rooms at Tennants.
The concert promises an uplifting afternoon of powerful and inspiring music, opening with Wagner’s dramatic Overture to Tannhäuser, setting the tone for a programme full of energy and emotion.
A highlight of the afternoon will be a performance of Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs, one of the most cherished works in the soprano repertoire.
The piece will be performed by Jane Burnell, widely regarded as one of Yorkshire’s finest sopranos, who joins the orchestra from Reisopera in Holland. Audiences can expect a moving performance marked by serenity, depth and emotional richness.
Following the interval, the concert will conclude with Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, a work that perfectly captures the composer’s distinctive style through precise orchestration, sweeping orchestral sound and a sublime soprano solo.
Organisers say the programme has been carefully chosen to leave audiences feeling “enchanted and inspired”, with music that reflects the optimism and renewal of spring.
