People are being encouraged to give broken household items a new lease of life when Richmondshire Repair Cafe returns to Leyburn this weekend.
The volunteer-run event will take place at Leyburn Arts and Community Centre, on Darlington Road, on Saturday, September 12, from 9.45am until 12.30pm.
Visitors can bring along household and fabric items which need repairing, with volunteers offering their skills free of charge.
Items which may be suitable for repair include electrical appliances, clocks, lamps, ceramics, clothing, soft toys and jewellery.
Members of Leyburn Community Shed will also be attending and will be able to help with items requiring woodworking skills.
Organisers say people are also welcome to simply call in for a cup of tea or coffee and some home-baked cake.
Both repairs and refreshments are free, although donations towards the cost of running the events are welcomed.
The Repair Cafe aims to encourage people to repair possessions rather than throw them away, helping households save money while reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.
The events are staffed and organised by a team of volunteers who give their time and expertise to help local residents.
