Richmondshire RFC win competition to have game live-streamed

Richmondshire Rugby Club has been selected to have a match live-streamed.

As part of the prize from England Rugby, there will also be filmed pre and post-match interviews with players and officials.

The filmed fixture will see the Richmondshire take on rivals Darlington Rugby Club on April 1, with kick-off at 3pm.

Following the game players and spectators will be invited to the clubhouse where the stream will be shown via YouTube.

The competition, run by England Rugby was set up to see how clubs were utilising Autumn internationals to enhance rugby at their club.

The team had plans to run both male and female taster sessions on the Saturday and Sunday of some of the Autumn games.

Nick Hunter, club chairman, came across the competition on the England Rugby website.

He said: “To be honest I was shocked when I found out we won as it was a national competition.

“I never thought for one minute that we’d win and when I told the committee they were excited to say the least.”

Nick added: “We are hoping for a great day of fantastic rugby with a good turnout and it will be an extremely memorable event for all involved.

“There is a real excitement amongst the club, although some are still sceptical as it is on April 1 and think it is still an April Fool which it is most definitely not.”

The game will be live-streamed here
