Richmondshire Under-17s complete clean sweep of trophies

Richmondshire Cricket Club’s Under-17s capped a remarkable season on Friday evening by lifting the Pallister Cup at Marton, completing a clean sweep of trophies.

The cup, played between the winners of the two league sections, saw Richmondshire bowl out Marton for 97 from their 30 overs. Finlay Clarke was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 3, while Joe White took 2 for 9.

Richmondshire made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 12.3 overs. Captain Joe White finished unbeaten on 39, with support from Will Fudali (25) and Jack Platt (16*). The team also won their league division unbeaten and the Junior 100 last week, underlining a bright future for the club as many of the youngsters are already making their mark in senior cricket.

On Saturday, the 1st XI secured a ten-wicket win over Saltburn, with Gary Pratt hitting his third consecutive century. Saltburn made 173 for nine after early wickets from Josh Dowson (2 for 21) and three wickets for Shafi (3 for 56). Richmondshire’s reply was brisk, with Pratt smashing an unbeaten 111 and Bob Carr adding 57 not out as they chased down the total in heavy rain. The win earned them 25 points, though rivals Barnard Castle and Marton also took maximum points, leaving league positions unchanged.

The 2nds also claimed 25 points in a rain-affected home clash with Seaton Carew. Richmondshire posted 174, with Raam Raj top-scoring on 23, before Shaun Charlton (5 for 31) and Max Percival (2 for 27) reduced the visitors to 90 for seven. With a revised target of 137 under Duckworth-Lewis, Richmondshire took victory to climb to eighth in Division One, 21 points clear of relegation.

The 5ths suffered a heavy defeat to Raby Castle 2nds despite posting 173 for eight, with runs from Jake Wright (35), Jahan Mohammed (34) and young Louis Morris (31). Raby chased down the target in just 22.5 overs, leaving Richmondshire with only four points.

On Sunday, the 3rds beat Normanby Hall by 66 runs. Bertie Morris (66) and Raam Raj (64) shared a second-wicket stand of 103 in a total of 191 for nine. Normanby were then bowled out for 125 in 30 overs, with Raj completing an excellent all-round display by taking 6 for 23. The 25 points keep Richmondshire third in the table.
