Richmondshire’s bonfire and fireworks night celebrations

Celebrations to mark the failed Gunpower Plot will take place across Richmondshire over the next few days.

A number of public fireworks displays and bonfires have been organised in the district’s towns and villages:

Catterick Garrison

Catterick Garrison bonfire and fireworks will be held on Saturday, November 3 on the sports field on Plumer Road. It’s a 6pm start and will run until 9pm. Admission is free.

As well as the bonfire and the fireworks, there will also be a funfair and refreshments available.

Catterick Village

Catterick Village’s fireworks display will be held at the sports association ground on Sunday, November 4. Gates 6pm, with the display starting at 7pm. Adults £2, children £1.

Hawes

The bonfire and fireworks in Hawes will be held on the Community Field on Sunday, November 4. 6.30pm start. Free admission, but suggested donation of £3 per person.

Leyburn

Leyburn bonfire and fireworks will take place at The Shawl on Monday, November 5. It’s a 6.30pm start.

Free admission, but donations welcome.

Refreshments will be available.

Reeth

Reeth village bonfire and fireworks display will be held on the village green on Monday, November 5.

The judging of the guys begins at 6pm, with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm.

The fireworks display begins at 7pm and a barbecue is available throughout the evening.

Admission is free and a collection is taken to support future village events.

Richmond 

Richmond fireworks display will be held at Richmond School on Monday, November 5.

Gates open at 6pm, with the display starting at 7pm.

Free parking and admission, although donations gratefully received

 No pets, fireworks or sparklers.

West Burton

The village bonfire night and fireworks display will be held on Saturday, November 3.

Bonfire lit at 6:30, fireworks around 7pm. There will be a barbecue at the Fox and Hounds.

West Witton

The village will hold its bonfire and fireworks night on Saturday, November 3.

The fun starts at 6.30pm at the playing fields, with the fire lit at 7pm.

There will be a licensed bar, and hot drinks and food for sale in the pavilion.

No tickets needed, just donations on the night.

No dogs allowed. No personal fireworks.

Wensleydale Railway is also running special train service from Leyburn to Bedale Bonfire on Saturday night, with a connecting bus from Hawes.
