Richmondshire District Council preparing to reopen public toilets and car parks

Richmondshire District Council says it is planning to reopen its public car parks and public toilets which were closed at the start of the lockdown.

It comes after the Government eased the lockdown restriction and allowed people to travel to exercise and exercise for as long as they wanted.

Three Dales car parks were closed in March to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Richmondshire District Council shut the facilities in Muker, Langthwaite and Hawes to discourage people from taking unnecessary travel and coming into the Dales during the pandemic.

The car parks were still be available for key workers and local residents at no charge.

A spokesperson for Richmondshire District Council said: “We are planning for car parks and public toilets to be reopened but we have no date yet – although we know it won’t be this week.”

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has already announced that it will be reopening its car parks and public toilets “as soon as possible”. [kofi]
