Risedale School in Catterick Garrison has celebrated the achievements of its pupils at its annual Awards Presentation Evening, recognising excellence, perseverance and hard work across all year groups.
The event, held on Wednesday, October 22, reflected the school’s focus on its vision and values — encouraging pupils to be their best , by demonstrating responsibility, respect, resilience and building strong relationships.
Headteacher Lucy Greenwood told guests: “It is wonderful to be able to welcome you all this evening to celebrate the many achievements of our pupils, who are instrumental in the growing reputation and success of our school.
“I am so proud to work here and to have the privilege of working each day with so many amazing, kind, and hard-working pupils and an incredible team of staff.”
The evening was attended by a range of special guests including Catterick Garrison Commander Lt. Col. Anderson, Veteran Mark Hill MBE, service children’s champion Angela Campbell, Lin Ryan from the Soroptimist Society, chair of governors Nick Horn, and representatives from local schools.
This year’s ceremony featured the inaugural Year 11 Graduation, with the Class of 2025 each receiving a certificate of achievement. Lt. Col. Anderson delivered an speech, urging pupils to continue to be curious in order to keep learning.
In total, 24 awards for excellence and 18 specialist awards were presented, with the evening compered by Year 11 ambassadors Daniel Hibbins and Kaydee Smith.
Among the top achievers was Mollie Thirlwell, who collected five awards, including the Key Stage 4 BEST Award for outstanding academic achievement.
Mollie, who achieved double grade 9s in GCSE English, said: “I absolutely loved my time at Risedale School. Since Mrs Greenwood’s appointment, there have definitely been noticeable and positive changes. The school will always be a very special place to me.”

Nathanael Hall – Excellence in engineering and the Robert Stephenson’s Rocket STEM Award.

Lucas Kirk – Governor’s Sports Award for outstanding performance in football and athletics.

Lacey Hanson – Paddy Dunne Memorial Award for balancing academic success with representing Team England at the World Cheerleading Championships.

Tallulah-Grace Tomlinson – Soroptimist Cup for citizenship and outstanding leadership.

Dylan Hughes – Gill Harden Award for effort, determination and resilience.

Calum Sankey – Excellence in English.
Musical highlights included Year 10 pupil Cain Darnton performing Clair de Lune and Alex Stephenson’s Classical Mash-up.
Mrs Greenwood closed the evening by thanking staff, families, and pupils for their continued support, adding: “Never forget the best version of yourselves that you have celebrated tonight.”
