The stage at Risedale School was transformed as pupils performed the cult classic musical Little Shop of Horrors.
The week kicked off with a special preview on Monday, as Risedale welcomed pupils from local primary schools, with two public performances on the following days.
Little Shop of Horrors tells the darkly comedic tale of Seymour Krelborn, a meek floral assistant who stumbles upon a unique, talking plant with a rather peculiar diet.
As the ravenous Audrey II grew, so did Seymour’s fortunes, leading to hilariously macabre consequences.
Emily-Faye Fort played shy Seymour, while Skai Nicholson starred as the sweet yet unlucky Audrey.
Jak Atkinson brought the musical’s botanical star to life with puppetry, and Alex Dunphy played the opportunistic Mr Mushnik.
This year’s show was once again directed by head of drama, Southworth-Gedye, and produced by head of social studies, Ms Dunphy.
“I’m incredibly proud of the entire cast and crew for bringing Little Shop of Horrors to life with such energy and enthusiasm,” said Mrs Southworth-Gedye.
“This production truly embodies our vision of supporting every pupil to be the best version of themselves.
“The immense effort and teamwork required meant every single pupil, whether on stage or behind the scenes, rose to the challenge, developing their resilience, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging and accomplishment. It truly showcases the incredible talent and dedication we have here at Risedale.”
Ms Dunphy added: “We are immensely grateful to Tony Wilcock from the Georgian Theatre Royal.
“His technical support and expertise were absolutely crucial in making the show look and sound as fantastic as it did. His contribution truly elevated the entire production.”
