Risedale students greet Countess of Wessex during Catterick visit

The Countess of Wessex is greeted by Risedale students Charlie Bell, Sushana Thapa Magar and Mikey Waters, and head Colin Scott.

Students from Risedale Sports and Community College greeted the Countess of Wessex as she visited Catterick Garrison today.

Year 11 students Charlie Bell, Sushana Thapa Magar and Mikey Waters met the Countess of Wessex as her AgustaWestland A109S G-XXEC helicopter touched down on Risedale’s Jaffa playing field on this morning.

Risedale’s principal Colin Scott welcomed the Royal and introduced her to Charlie, Sushana and Mikey, before she was whisked away to a military engagement hosted by 5 Armoured Medical Regiment.

This story continues after the adverts:

Her Royal Highness asked the students what they would like to do after they left school, to which they all replied that they hoped to attend college and peruse successful careers.

Head girl Sushana said: “I was a bit nervous before she arrived but it was lovely that she asked what we planned to do in the future.”

Head boy Charlie added: “I was only expecting to greet Her Royal Highness from the helicopter and for her to go straight to her car as the weather wasn’t great but it was nice that she took the time to speak with us all.”

Mr Scott told the students he was sure this would be a day they would look back on fondly and would feel proud that you represented Risedale so well.
