A key route in Richmondshire has been closed following a landslip, with motorists urged to avoid the area.

The A6108 Reeth Road is currently shut at Under Bank, between Stainton Road and Round Howe car park, after ground movement made the route unsafe.

North Yorkshire Council confirmed the closure and said engineers will carry out urgent investigations to determine the cause of the landslip.

The authority said the road will remain closed until it is safe to reopen, with no timescale yet given for when that may be.

Drivers are being advised to follow the signed diversion route and avoid the area wherever possible.
