Road reopens after accident near Skeeby

The road between Richmond and Skeeby has reopened following an accident this morning.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision on the A6108.

Those involved suffered only minor injuries.

The accident involved a BMW and a Volkswagen Polo.

Police, paramedics and firefighters from Richmond attended the incident.

The collision caused long queues for motorists which stretched back as far as Scotch Corner.

  1. We’re not surprised at this accident. We use that road regularly and have often been “tailgated” along there. A couple of weeks ago in the early hours of the morning, a car careered down that hill and smashed into the two garden walls just on the bend, making a dreadful mess of the gardens, demolishing the walls, losing a wheel in the crash. The car was a write off but the driver carried on for a short while on three wheels, abandoned the car and was intercepted when the police dogs arrived. Traffic speeds down that hill far too quickly. Whoever made the decision to put the national speed limit on that stretch of road needs to seriously reconsider; it would be much safer and better to have a maximum of 40 mph.
