Roadshows for residents and businesses ahead of world cycling championships

Residents and businesses in  Richmondshire are being invited to roadshows as the district gears up for the visit of the world cycling championships in September.

Venues in Reeth and Leyburn will play host to the first of four evening roadshows which will help communities decide on their celebrations to mark the event.

Roadshows for Hawes and Richmond will be announced shortly.

Millions of people are expected to turn out for the UCI Road World Championships which come to North Yorkshire for nine days of racing from September 21 to 29 – including the Y2019 Para-Cycling International event.

Richmond will be in the spotlight when the junior men’s road race sets off from the market place on Thursday, September 26.

Cyclists come back through the district on Sunday, September 29 for the men’s elite race.

The roadshows are being delivered by race hosts Yorkshire 2019 and will include presentations of the routes and information on how local communities can get involved.

They take place on July 18 at the Buck Hotel, Reeth and July 23 at the Garden Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn.
