Roadworks on the A684 at Spennithorne Bridge will take place later this month.
The work will be carried out in two phases at the bridge over the Wensleydale Railway line between Constable Burton and Harmby.
The first phase, scheduled to begin on Monday, November 18, will involve the construction of a service vehicle lay-by and will allow an investigation of the existing traffic signals.
The current stop line and signage will be moved back to cover the works area.
Work will take place from 8am to 4pm for one week.
The second phase is planned for Monday, November 25, where the existing crash barriers will be removed and replaced with extended barriers that comply with current standards.
It will involve overnight closures from 6pm to 6am for one week.
Advance notice signs will be displayed and a diversion will be in place via the A6108 Leyburn/Barden Moor/Patrick Brompton.
The scheme is among those to be funded following a successful bid to the Department for Transport’s Safer Roads Fund, which addresses issues on the 50 highest-risk A roads in the country.
