Members of Wensleydale Rotary have raised money to support this year’s Wensleydale Young Musician of the Year competition after spending three days selling raffle tickets at Leyburn Co-op.
The fundraising event took place last week, with proceeds going towards the competition, which will be held on Sunday, November 22.
Rotary president Richard Pennell thanked everyone who supported the appeal.
He said: “Very many thanks for everyone who supported us, it’s very much appreciated. The draw was made on the Saturday night and our two winners have received their hampers. Thank you too to the wonderful staff at Leyburn Co-op.”
The Wensleydale Young Musician Competition is organised by Wensleydale Rotary in partnership with BlueBoxt Creative and Performing Arts. It is open to young people aged seven to 18 who live in or attend school in North Yorkshire.
The competition features two categories – one for acoustic instrumentalists and vocalists, and another for amplified instrumentalists and vocalists, with backing tracks permitted if required.
Entries for this year’s competition will open in August, with further details available on the Wensleydale Rotary website.
