Rubbish and recycling collections cancelled for rest of week

Richmondshire District Council has cancelled all collections of household and garden waste for the rest of the week.

Household waste rounds will restart on Monday March 5 – weather permitting.

Householders should put their grey bins out as normal next week – but are asked to keep an eye on updates as the situation could change in response to the weather.

Road and pavement conditions make it too dangerous for the refuse trucks and operatives to be on the roads – with slippery surfaces and snow drifts making it treacherous for them, and for other vehicles and people.

Recycling collections have also been cancelled – any excess recycling should be put out for the next scheduled collection.

All green waste collections from Tuesday this week were cancelled and homes will not be revisited until the next scheduled collection day.

Anyone needing extra green waste removed as a result of this delay should collect recyclable bags from the council offices.

Officials say weather conditions are being carefully monitored and a further update will be posted on Monday.
