This year, there were 220 runners registered with 186 starters.

There was a cool breeze and with dry ground conditions were ideal for the runners with all but one of the starters finishing.

The first man home was Jack Kelly from Harrogate in 52mi 57sec and the first woman was Helen Burrell from Leyburn in 71m 13sec.

President Paul Hardcastle said: “The James Herriot Trail Race is part of our trio of events run by the club which includes the Wensleydale in the Spring and the Wensleydale Saunter held in September.

“Without the support of the community in and around Leyburn we just wouldn’t be able to run this and the other events.

“We have been able to raise over £3000 which we will use to support local charitable projects.”
