Runners take part in second Stately Trails event

More than 100 runners visited Aske Hall near Richmond to take part in the second Stately Trails event organised by DalesRunner on Thursday.

Runners completed a 5km or 10km course of this stunning estate which took them across fields, through woods and around lakes.

A fun run for under 13’s also took place.

Sausage and bacon rolls were provided by Aske business, Mocha, after the race.

Local business, Don’t Sell The Farm created special medals for the event which can also be used as coasters.

Instead of plastic ribbon, the medals were strung with wool from Swaledale Woollens as an eco-friendly alternative.

Jess Young, from DalesRunner, said: “Aske is a wonderful setting for a running event. The wind made it challenging but the competitors were amazing.

“We are hugely grateful to Lord Ronaldshay for giving permission for the event to go ahead and for generously donating the venue hire fee to Just The Job”

Competitors travelled from across the region to take part and were encouraged to car share through a car share raffle.

The next event in the Stately Trails series is on August 1 at Forcett Park near Eppleby.

Entries for future events are available via the DalesRunner website at www.dalesrunner.co.uk
