The founder of a jobs website and former Team GB eventer has given a talk to members of Wensleydale Rotary Club.

Jodie McGregor, CEO of Gate Jobs, told the group how she grew up on a farm at Bishopdale in the Yorkshire Dales.

As a teenager she became a member of Team GB’s junior eventing team and went on to event horses for other owners.

When she was 21 she decided to change careers and became a personal trainer. Linked with this she also developed an interest in nutrition.

That interest in nutrition proved useful as she was unable to continue as a personal trainer during the Covid lockdowns.

She built a new business sending out breakfast boxes which proved popular. Its success enabled Jodie to sell the business.

Following the sale, Jodie took time to travel which led her to spend eight months working for a company in Japan.

At the same time, she developed the idea for her new business Gate Jobs, a recruitment company aimed at bringing together local rural businesses with local job applicants.

After her return from Japan, Jodie has continued to develop and promote Gate Jobs. She developed the website further to include tips and guidance for job applicants to improve their chances of gaining employment.

She told members the response from employers and job seekers in North Yorkshire has been good. Jodie said she was working to extend the area covered by the business throughout the North and East of England.
