Santa’s coming to town (and he will also visit surrounding villages)

Santa will visit Richmond this week thanks to the town’s Round Table group.

Members will escort Santa around some of Richmond’s streets from tonight until Thursday, and will then visit Catterick Garrison on Friday.

Santa’s Grotto will then be in place in Richmond Town Hall on Saturday, before he visits surrounding villages on Sunday.

Richmond Round Table Secretary Stuart Savage said: “We know that generations of people in Richmond look forward to our annual trips out with Santa, and we hated being unable to do it last year.

“We were therefore really happy when Santa contacted us and asked for our assistance again this year.

“We are currently working on his sleigh and our volunteer elves and helpers are fit and ready.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing people again.”

“If you are not on our routes or, if for any reason you are out or we run out of time, Santa has agreed to stay with us for the weekend and will be in Richmond Town Hall from 9.30am on Saturday, December11.

“Thanks to our generous supporters all children will receive a present and no charge is made.” continued Stuart.

“Santa and Round Table would like to thank all of you for your support, our drivers, elves and helpers and the good people at Chippendales Plant Hire in Catterick who have donated a trailer so that Santa’s reindeers can stay fit for their big night on Christmas Eve.

This week’s routes are (the sleigh leaves at at around 6.30pm each evening):
