Santa’s North Pole postbox arrives at the Green Howards Museum

Christmas magic has arrived early at the Green Howards Museum in Richmond, where a special North Pole postbox has been installed – delivered, staff say, by Santa himself.

From Friday, November 28 to Wednesday, December 17, children – and grown-ups – are invited to write their letters and drop them straight into the festive postbox during a visit to the museum.

Each letter will make its way to Santa’s workshop in Lapland, but families are reminded to include a stamped addressed envelope so Father Christmas can send a reply before the big day.

The final posting date is Wednesday, December 17, giving Santa’s elves just enough time to work their magic. The museum notes, however, that while the elves are speedy, Royal Mail delays may still occur, so early posting is encouraged.

From 1 December, families can also take part in the museum’s Children’s Christmas Trail, a seasonal activity leading young explorers through the galleries in search of clues and festive surprises.

Marketing and communications manager Kelsey Ellington said: “We love seeing the excitement on children’s faces as they post their letters to Lapland. Writing letters to Santa is a lovely family tradition, and the Christmas trail makes it even more magical.”

The museum and gift shop are open from 10am to 4.30pm, and entry to the shop area and Santa’s postbox is free.
