Scenic Dales bus service returns for summer

Northern DalesBus at Muker.

The Northern DalesBus 831 will return to run a summer service in the Dales from this weekend.

The bus runs from Richmond up Swaledale via Reeth, Gunnerside and Muker to Keld, then climbs over the Buttertubs Pass to Hawes. The service then continues to Ribblehead, Ingleton and on to the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.

The service will run every Sunday and Bank Holiday from May 15 until October 23.

It departs Richmond Market Place at 10.30am, arriving at Hawes Market Place at 12.05pm.

After a short break, the service departs Hawes Market Hall at 12.30pm for Ribblehead and Ingleton, arriving in Kirkby Lonsdale at 1.23pm.

The return service will depart Kirkby Lonsdale at 3.30pm arriving back in Hawes at 4.30pm.

After a short break, the service continues from Hawes Dales Countryside Museum at 4.50pm for the return journey into Swaledale arriving in Richmond at 6.05pm.

Other Sunday DalesBus services also start this weekend, with Northern DalesBus 830 also linking Wensleydale and Swaledale.

The bus leaves Hawes National Park Centre at 11am to cross the Buttertubs Pass into Swaledale, returning from Richmond Market Place at 4.20pm and Muker at 5.12pm.

Eastern DalesBus 825 runs from Richmond to Leyburn, leaving Richmond Market Place at 12.50pm, returning from Leyburn Market Place at 3.40pm.

Single and return tickets are available.

Dales Rover tickets offer a day’s unlimited Sunday and Bank Holiday travel on the DalesBus network – £10 for Adults and £18 for Groups (up to 2 adults and 3 children traveling together).

Elderly and disabled concessionary bus passes are not valid for free travel on DalesBus 825, 830 or 831 – passholders can pay a single fare of £3, or purchase a £5 Dales Privilege Rover for a day’s travel.

Northern DalesBus 831 is managed by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company, part of Friends of the Dales, with financial support from Darlington Community Grants, the Jack Brunton Charitable Trust and local fundraising.
