Anna Clinton, franchisee of Saks Hair at Sedbury Stables, near Scotch Corner,  has attended a special tea party at The House of Commons to mark the start of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, hosted by The Eve Appeal.

Anna joined members of Saks Head Office in Darlington for the event which was hosted by Sharon Hodgson MP and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Ovarian Cancer.

Joining them was a range of MPs, celebrities and women affected by ovarian cancer.

Anna’s Saks Sedbury salon is one of the top four fundraising salons in the Saks group, which has chosen The Eve Appeal as its nominated charity.

Saks Sedbury has so far raised over £4,000 having taken part in a wide range of events including afternoon teas, designer clothes sales, half marathons and charity auctions.

This year Anna’s team will be taking part in a sponsored 12 hour swimathon while they go on a salon away trip to Marbella, along with many other fundraising initiatives to try and beat last year’s total.

The Saks group as a whole has raised over £85,000 for the Eve Appeal, the only UK national charity raising awareness and funding research in the five gynaecological cancers.

Anna Clinton said: “It was a privilege to attend the special tea party at The House of Commons last week and to be surrounded by so many brave women affected by cancer.

“Everyone at Saks Sedbury, and all the salons within the group, have been working hard to raise money for such a worthwhile cause and we look forward to raising even more this year.”
