Scotton woman turns love of exploring with her dog into business

A Scotton woman has turned her love of spending time with her dog into a business.

Charlotte Lewis runs The Dog Backpacker, which aims to make more outdoor adventures accessible for people who want to bring their dogs with them.

Charlotte, 34, got the idea after looking around for places to go with her spaniel Philoux.

She said: “I was going away and wanted to find something I could do with my dog other than just going for a walk.

After many hours I came across somewhere booked and loved it.

“Whilst away I decided this was something we should do so The Dog Backpacker was born.”

Charlotte added: “Philoux just want to spend as much time together as possible and enjoy life, while exploring as much of the UK as we can and encouraging others and showing them what they can do.

“The aim is to explore the outdoors, try new activities and have a happy and healthy lifestyle all with your dog by your side.”

The Dog Packer is running a series of events this summer. These include:

  • Evening Doggy SUP Adventure in Scorton on July 1
  • Guided Doggy Walk – Yorkshire Moors and Mines on July 12
  • The Dog Backpackers Charity Fun 5K to be held at Catterick Saddle Club on August 19

They are also offering activities that you can book with your dog, including Doggy SUP, Canoeing with your Dog, River Explorer with your dog, Guided Doggy Walks Yorkshire and the Lakes.
