Scout group hold scarecrow festival

An annual scarecrow festival organised by Brompton and Catterick St Anne’s Scout Group was held in Catterick Village earlier this month.

The weekend helped to promote community engagement, provide family fun for local residents and celebrate the efforts of the scout group as part of National Volunteer Week.

This year, 16 households took part, with a whole host of creative ideas on display; from children’s characters, to military personnel and everything in between/

Group lead volunteer Tara Roulston said: “It was fantastic to again see the community of Catterick Village support our scout group; the creativity and excitement that this event has given local residents is always worth it.

“To see people’s smiles and hear such positive comments as they wander around the trail has been heartwarming.

“We love that not only do we support our local community, but in turn they support our group, true community spirit.

“We hope with events such as this we can encourage more young people and volunteers into local scouting, and continue the fantastic work that we do. We would like to say a big thank you to all those who have taken part in this year’s event and we can’t wait to see what 2026 brings.”
