A Richmondshire Scouts leader has been recognised at a national awards ceremony celebrating those who support military families.
Lindsay Sykes, district lead volunteer for Richmondshire Scouts, attended the Celebrating Forces Families Awards in London on Friday, April 24, where she was acknowledged for her contribution to the Forces community.
Speaking after the event, Lindsay said she was “incredibly honoured to be nominated” and described the evening as inspiring.
“It was wonderful to meet and cheer on so many people making a real difference to the lives of Forces families,” she said.
The awards highlight individuals and organisations who go above and beyond to support serving personnel, veterans and their families, with Lindsay’s nomination reflecting her ongoing work with young people across Richmondshire.
Just days after the ceremony, Lindsay was back in the district leading Richmondshire Scouts’ annual St George’s Day parade on Sunday, April 26.
The event saw Scouts march through Richmond to Easby Abbey, where they gathered to celebrate Scouting values and renew their promises.
Her involvement in both the national awards and a key local event highlights what organisers described as her continued dedication to supporting young people and military families in the area.
Richmondshire Scouts has congratulated Lindsay on her nomination and thanked her for her leadership and commitment.
