Police have urged residents and businesses to hide scrap items out of sight to avoid them being taken.
The warning comes after an incident in Colburn today.
At 9.40am today, three men in a white pick-up took items from a garden in the town.
One of the items was a boiler.
Police say the vehicle had other items of scrap on the rear covered by netting.
One man was aged in his 30s, had light hair, stocky build and was around 5ft in.
Another man was aged in his 20s, dark hair, slim build and about 5ft in.
A spokesperson for Richmondshire police said: “Please if possible hide any items of scrap out of sight to try and help unwanted callers entering your gardens.”
