Seamstress opens shop in Richmond

Harriet Ward takes her home businesses to new heights as she opens new premises in Richmond.

A seamstress has opened a shop and workshop in Richmond after working from home for the last four years.

Harriet Ward, from Scruton, has launched The Sewing Ward in Rosemary Lane.

She is currently offering alterations, home furnishings and sewing to order on the ground floor.

In the coming weeks a creative hub will open on the first floor. This will be used for workshops with Harriet and other artists.

Harriet said: “I want to harness the positive and therapeutic properties of creative skills to help heal our overly busy and hectic lives, getting back to basics to make items for the home and clothing.

“My children are getting older and have started school so I have more time to work but my work has outgrown my home studio.

“Now I need more space and a town centre location to fulfill my ambitions.

“Richmond is such a beautiful market town, it’s the ideal place for me to do just that.

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming my current clients and new customers to the shop.”
